Funding Utilities Upgrades: A Look At DOE Programs For Your Enterprise
As many of us explore new, data-empowered changes to the way we operate, the US Department of Energy (DOE) is empowering domestic utilities to adopt smart new tools and techniques with its Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships Program (GRIP).
Let’s explore some of the options:
- First is the $2.5 billion in Grid Resilience Utility and Industry Grants, which support activities for modernizing the electric grid to reduce effects of extreme weather and natural disasters.
- Second is the $3 billion in Smart Grid Grants for increasing the flexibility, efficiency and reliability of electric power systems to boost the integration of renewables and electric vehicles.
- Lastly is the $5 billion allotted for the Grid Innovation Program, which provides financial assistance to multiple stakeholders for deploying projects that use innovative approaches to transmission, storage and distribution infrastructure aimed at enhancing grid resilience and reliability.
We explored these programs, and spotlighted how utilities can take full advantage, during our recent Utilities Analytics Users Group webinar.
